Got a recommendation for anyone looking at the central valley, Atenas area.
While we were there, we met Marian Veltman, realtor. While I've seen and heard most all the horror stories about realtors in CR, I can strongly recommend this realtor.
1st off, she ran us around for 2 days looking at property. She answered ALL of my questions and I admit, I had many as an old B1 General Contractor/home builder for 30 years+ in 3 different states. I did find that most of the listings I had found that we wanted to see in Point2, the pictures were taken with lenses that made the rooms/area huge, in the pics. The reality was not the same. However, Marian's pictures were right on the money, for her listing we saw, and what we saw in the pics was what we saw at the place. She was a wealth of info about Atenas real estate along with CR in general. If memory serves, she spoke 5 different languages, 2 of which was perfect english and perfect spanish.
The part that really impressed me was; In the US all realtors represent the seller, if you got your own realtor along with the listing agent or not. I brought this up, explaining that to my wife. Marian was quick to say, in CR she represented us. She even went as far as setting up a meeting with one of the owners and myself putting herself at risk of the owner trying to get the realtor out of the picture.
Her husband, Aad, is just as personable as she is and he runs a property management company in Atenas which is not a bad deal. It seems that if your going to use whatever house you buy in CR for a vaca home, you might be able to get the costs down to 0 by renting the house to vacationers. I got all the fees explained to me, the rates they shoot for for occupancy, etc etc etc. They basicly take care of pretty much everything, maintenance, grounds, renting, etc.
If any1 wants to try Marian and/or Aad, I'll link her realty company and site here.
