Boat ownership and fishing

Can anyone tell me some general info on boat ownership and fishing in CR?  I'm considering options... either buying a vaca property in CR and keeping a boat there (smaller 20' or so fishing boat most likely) or buying a sailboat that I can dock in Florida so I can sail down and moor in CR (assuming dock slips are difficult to come by).  I know almost nothing about this...so any general info is appreciated.

Also, from a boating and fishing standpoint, what are the boating and fishing pros/cons to the pacific side or the Caribbean side?

Thanks!

I hope you get some responses to this question.  I have no experience with owning a boat here and since we're not at the beach much, we haven't met anyone to learn from about that topic.

From what little I do know....I think the fishing is better on the Caribbean side, but I'm NO expert in that field. Just my thought from what we've seen after living on the Caribbean side versus living on the Pacific side.

Thanks Allen,

Yep... I'm hoping someone with some experience chimes in too... I keep checking in on it.  I would think boat ownership in a small country surrounded by ocean would be a major thing a lot of people would deal with (and want to do)...but maybe not.

I think the problem is that in CR...they are behind on everything.  Most Ticos...don't have money...so they only have little tiny fishing boats.

For the foreigners that come...I wonder how many want to buy and maintain a boat.  Surely some do....I know if I were living on the beach I would want a boat, but the problem is...WHERE do you park it...since CR does not have very many marinas as you might have in most places like the USA.

But...hopefully, someone with more knowledge than me will chime in.

Have you joined our Facebook Group yet?  There are a lot of people there and a bit more active there since people are used to FB.

You can ask about boat ownership there.
