Is there a cell phone provider in Costa Rica ? if so what is the name of the provider. Also, is there a local car rental company available ?

 Yes Jim,

There are several cell phone providers. Most people use the government provider, Kolbi. But you have others available and buying cell phone service is cheap.

Car rental is available...but not everywhere.

Getting a rental when you arrive in San Jose is easy....but finding a place to drop if off is difficult if you are staying. So, no problem if you are coming for a week or two, renting, driving around Costa Rica and then returning it to the same place you rented it.

However, if you rent and then plan on staying a while and only keeping the rental for a few days and dropping it off...you can still do that, but it cost more and you have to find a place to drop it off. Little more difficult but it is possible.

Go to this video: https://youtu.be/4ZPCinNJ9yY  Rental Tips and you can download a PDF that gives you links to some cell phone providers.
Look for link in the description or go to: https://forms.aweber.com/form/02/21476402.htm

I hope that helps...let me know if you need anything else.

Allen

If I’m coming on vacation and want cell service which has internet on my phone, what do you need to do? Another forum mentioned you have to get a SIM card. I have Verizon. Can’t I just set up international plan and still use my own phone and plan. Maybe it doesn’t work like that. Help please, I don’t want to get stranded with no phone gps or ability to call as I will be traveling alone, Megan
